Drowning a Mermaid Productions was founded by Sam Barlow, creator of 2015’s most decorated indie game, Her Story. Our mission in this life is to use games technology to tell interactive, character-driven stories that utilize the raw power of the audience and their imaginations.
Our first game, Telling Lies, was published in 2019 to rave reviews. It was nominated for Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joysticks and won Best Performer for Logan Marshall-Green (who totally deserved it.)
Our games are made at the coalface of 21st Century storytelling, utilizing filmed performance and game design to make people feel and think. They look like movies, feel like novels and are crafted after Nintendo games.
Our setup is half movie production company, half plucky indie game developer. We are a small team with big ambitions and are recruiting for individuals to join us in Brooklyn, NY.
All jobs are full-time internal positions here in Brooklyn and we provide generous healthcare packages. Get in at the start of something special as we grow things out from here.
Looking for a games programmer and jill of all trades who feels suited to small teams and leftfield projects. Experience with console development and video playback (!) is useful. Should be familiar with Unity and/or Unreal engine development. We don’t make traditional videogames so enthusiasm for doing different things is a must! Excited to hear from applicants who don’t look like Sam.
